CCI approves privatization of 58 SOEs

ISLAMABAD: Council of Common Interest (CCI) has approved privatization of 58 government organizations under Benazir Employees Stock Option Scheme, this was stated by Federal Secretary Privitization, Shahab Khwaja. He was speaking at the ceremony of 92nd National Management Course here in Islamabad today.
He said that initially, shares of 23 state-owned entities (SOE) will be offered for privatization under the scheme. Twelve percent shares of 80 government organizations will be given to 0.5 million employees, he added.
He pointed out that monopoly of regulatory bodies like Ogra and Nepra will end and Competition Commission’s role in this regard was very important.
He also said that court’s intervention has discouraged monopoly.
