US to help Pak reach Western markets: Qureshi
Talking to media after Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani called on US President Barack Obama, he said the US knows that nukes of Pakistan are in safe hands and there is no threats of their slipping into the hands of terrorists.
He also informed that the US President also accepted the invitation of Pakistan tour.
Commenting on his meeting with the US President at Blair House in Washington, the PM Gilani said he is thankful to the US President who said that Pakistan’s nukes are in safe hands.
Pakistan Ambassador in the United States Hussain Haqqani and the FM Qureshi attended the meeting with the PM Gilani. Various US officials including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and National Security Advisor James Jones were also presented in the meeting.
Qureshi said Obama-Gilani meeting turned out positive where consensus was achieved to take forward the headway made in the strategic negotiations, adding both the leaders discussed various issues relating regional and international affairs.
The two leaders mulled over the energy crisis prevalent in Pakistan currently.
He stressed the President Obama resolved to further the Pak-US ties better than they have been in past.
The FM Qureshi told the media that Obama said Pakistan and India are independent and sovereign countries and the US has no intention to interfere in the internal and regional affairs of these two countries.
Indian premier is sincere in seeking good relations with Pakistan, he added.
Obama assured that his country will assist Pakistan to reach the US and European markets, he added.
